The Washington Mystics headed into the game against the Atlanta Dream with the hopes of second place in the East standings and keeping close to the Chicago Sky. The Dream turned the Mystics day into a nightmare. The final score was 76-58. Things seem to be heating up in the WNBA East!
Things actually started out well for the Mystics as they racked up a quick 10-point lead with the help of Monique Currie's and a 3-pointer 2
minutes into in the first. The Mystics then lead almost the entire first half until and they didn't trail until Tiffany Hayes dropped a 3-pointer
with 0.5 seconds left in the half. The Mystics lead was gone as Atlanta headed to the locker room with the score still close at 38-37.
It was the second straight win for Atlanta Dream and the lost ended a three game winning streak for the Mystic.
Tiffany Hays And Angel McCoughtry In the Zone!
Atlanta has enjoyed having Tiffany Hayes back from arthroscopic knee surgery. She was sidelined for a month and since her return has added a nice spark to the Dream's bench. Atlanta's coach Fred Williams said he has been watching her minutes due to her surgery but her level of play dictated her minutes.
"Tonight she was in rhythm, and I didn't want to take her out," Williams said. "I told her if she keeps playing hard, points will come."
Rhythm was an understatement. Hayes was not only in a rhythm she was in the zone as she scored 23 points. That tied her career high. Finishing just behind her was Angel McCoughtry who nailed down 22 points of her own. McCoughtry is the WNBA's leading scorer.
