It's happened again in NASCAR! Dale Earnhardt Jr has once again sealed up an end of the season award in the world of NASCAR and is closing on Bill Elliott for the lead. Here's some more information about that as well as some additional Stock Car Notes!

The National Motorsports Press Ass'n (NMPA) announced that NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the recipient of this year's NMPA NASCAR Most Popular Driver Award. It is the 11th consecutive year Earnhardt Jr. has been selected through a vote of the fans. Bill Elliott currently holds the record having been named the series' most popular driver 16 times.

"I don't really keep track of the stats or the score, but Bill was a great driver and ambassador for the sport," Earnhardt said. "He represents the sport really well to this day, as does his son Chase."

Mobile 2014 ARCA Race Growing

The young but growing stop in Mobile Alabama for the ARCA Racing Series is already a fan favorite and it's getting bigger! The ARCA Mobile 200 race,set for Saturday March 22nd 2014 at Mobile International Speedway, has added another event to it's growing list of neat things for race fans to do!  FedEx has announced that it will provide hospitality along with the Denny Hamlin FedEx show car and hauler.

"Every day is race day at FedEx and the ARCA Mobile 200 provides a great opportunity to entertain our employees and customers in a turbo charged setting," offered FedEx District Sales Manager, Mark Dodson. "Having a national event that draws from the entire region is a great opportunity for us." 

The race weekend starts mid week with events including a fan day at the USS Alabama Battleship and Memorial Park, hauler parade and more. The first 2 ARCA Mobile 200s have drawn fans from 22 states including 2 provinces in Canada. Race fans have occupied over 2,900 hotel nights generating a 3.6 million dollar impact to the areas economy. 

NASCAR Hall of Fame Changes

NASCAR announced a number of changes to the selection process for the NASCAR Hall of Fame (NHOF), as well as a slight modification to driver eligibility selection parameters. In addition NASCAR also listened to their fans who called for a better way to honor those who have made significant contributions to the growth and success of the sport.

In all, six changes and updates will be made starting with the selection of the Class of 2015 – all designed to improve upon an already strong process that has led to the selection of 25 deserving inductees.

Changes were made in the areas of Driver Eligibility, Nominating Committee Will Select Five Fewer Nominees for Enshrinement, Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR, the right for the Reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Added To Voting Panel  and more.
