In case you didn't feel the ripple of dismay that shot through the NASCAR fan base this weekend then here's an update. NASCAR driver Josh Wise of Phil Parson's Motorsports beat out many big names in the series to lock up a fan vote for the NASCAR Sprint Cup All Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. One of the big names left on the sidelines wondering how they missed the fan vote, and the race, was Danica Patrick.
Users of Reddit.com and Dogecoin helped Wise and PPR raise over $50,000.00 dollars in order to make the Talladega Race and they followed up by helping propel Wise into the All Star race. Wise came in 15th place while Jamie McMurray won the event and the million dollar prize.
According to Wise, he was surprised about the outcome of the vote but fully appreciates the efforts of the internet fans and their ability to help a small team do big things. The driver, and IronMan athlete, commented that the backing was well appreciated.
"This is kind of a big deal for our sport because it is a lot of young kids and people from around the world," Wise said. "I've had the chance to interact with a lot of them. There's a lot of people had never watched a NASCAR race who have now watched several."
