Panasonic has been announced as a new primary sponsor for Jeff Gordon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Does this mean that we can officially retire one of the nick-names of Jeff Gordon's pit-crew over the years. The crew, once called the "Rainbow Warriors" in reference to the longtime sponsorship of Dupont, will have another logo on their uniforms.
Panasonic has added to its sponsorship agreement with Hendrick Motorsports and signed a new multi-year agreement. The agreement includes being the primary sponsors of the Gordon and his No. 24 team. Panasonic and Hendrick have actually worked together over the years. This new agreement is the first major change for the parties involved since 2007.
Gordon has enjoyed being sponsored by Dupont over the years even when the company was re-branded as Axalta. The combination of Dupont/Axalta was with Gordon during his years of winning four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships. Now a new sponsor will be sharing the primary spot on Gordon's car for select NASCAR races.
According to Hendrick Motorsports Panasonic will be featured as a primary sponsor of the No. 24 team in two Sprint Cup races and as an associate partner for the rest of the races. The agreement covers the 2014, 2015 and 2016 NASCAR seasons.
The No. 24 Panasonic Chevrolet SS driven by Gordon will debut this weekend at California's Sonoma Raceway and will again appear Aug. 31 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
