Carl Edwards Moving On - Quiet on Plans after Roush Fenway Racing

I can't believe that Carl Edwards will not be behind the wheel of a Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car in 2015. Edwards, often called "Concrete Carl" for his domination on concrete tracks, has confirmed the rumors are true. In addition, prior to the Brickyard 400 RFR announced its 2015 drivers and "Cousin Carl" - another nickname - was not on the list!

Even though he's leaving Edwards says that he is committed to getting the No. 99 car into victory lane and going for a championship!

"I think there'll be a time toward the end of the season to talk more about that. I'm not at another shop preparing for something. I'm 100% driving this 99 car. I haven't even started the process of building next year. It's not on my mind right now. It's all about winning right now."

This is really kind of amazing. Edwards started driving for Roush back in 1998 while running Truck Series races in what was then called the Craftsman Truck Series. He moved up to the Cup level in 2004. That's a long time for any driver. Heck, that's a long time for a person to work at one place in any industry these days.

Roush Fenway will still have three teams - their announced driver lineup for 2015 will include three teams - Greg Biffle, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne.

I'll get things going for the Silly Season rumors that involve Edwards and 2015. He could go to Joe Gibbs Racing in a fourth car. He could end up at Penske racing, that would be a neat fit. Hey - maybe another shuffle at Stewart-Haas? Why not - maybe Tony becomes a full time owner after a season following his broken leg. This should be fun to watch!
